Variation 18

ID 5246

This variation requires the bow to be lifted after the up bow, so when the bar starts on a down bow it lifts after the fourth note (for instance in bar 1) and when the bar starts on an up bow, it lifts after the third note (for instance in bar 2).

There are specific instructions for bow division so that the bow moves from the lower half to the middle in bar 1 and then starts again in bar 2 in the upper half of the bow.

These bow divisions are excellent for practice purposes to train control of the bow in the air as well as developing a sophisticated understanding of bow division, however in performance this variation can be played successfully just using the middle third of the bow.
